Prereleases for Delta Reign kick off today, October 24, at local game stores. After that, the full set follows on November 6, 2026. So if your Discord is already full of pull photos, that’s why.

Delta Reign is the next English set in the Mega Evolution series, and it’s built around a Pokémon I’ve loved since Emerald: Rayquaza. In this guide I’ll go through the release date, what’s in the set, the cards people will chase, the products, and whether I think it’s worth your money.

Delta Reign release date and prerelease

  • Prerelease events: from October 24 at local game stores
  • Release date: November 6, 2026
  • Series: Mega Evolution
  • Japanese source: mostly Storm Emeralda, which came out in Japan on July 31

A prerelease is still the most fun way to open a new set, because you get a Build & Battle kit and play right away with whatever you pull. Check your local game store, since spots tend to fill up fast.

What’s in Delta Reign?

The Pokémon Company says Delta Reign has over 135 cards. The main numbered set has 103 cards, and the secret rares come on top of that. This is the breakdown so far:

  • 4 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
  • 6 regular Pokémon ex
  • 14 Illustration Rares
  • 17 Ultra Rares
  • 6 Special Illustration Rares
  • 3 Legendary Stadiums, printed as 6 halves

Most of the cards come from Storm Emeralda, of course. However, the English set also mixes in cards from a few Japanese starter decks. As a result, it’s quite a bit bigger than the Japanese original.

The chase cards: Mega Rayquaza ex and friends

Mega Rayquaza ex is the face of the set, and it will be the card everybody wants. In Japan, the gold Mega Rayquaza ex is the most expensive card in Storm Emeralda by far. The Special Illustration Rare version is a close second, though.

The other three Mega ex cards are Mega Golisopod ex, Mega Golurk ex and Mega Malamar ex. Honestly, that’s a strange trio, but Golurk fans finally get their moment. Among the Special Illustration Rares, the Raikou ex card has already shown up in English and looks great.

One tip, though: the full English card list isn’t out yet. So treat any “complete list” you see online with care until the official one drops.

Legendary Stadiums: the new split cards

This is the part I’m most excited about. Each Legendary Stadium is printed as two separate cards that together form one big picture. You need both halves in your hand before you can play it.

If you played the Pokémon TCG around 2010, this will feel familiar. It works a lot like the old LEGEND cards from the HeartGold and SoulSilver era, where you also had to pull two halves of Lugia or Ho-Oh. Two of the three are already known in English: Legendary Summit and Legendary Ocean Trench.

For collectors, each half counts as its own card. So yes, your master set just got a little longer.

Why is it called Delta Reign?

The name points to the Delta Episode from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, which is the post-game story where Rayquaza saves the world from a falling meteor. If you never played it, it’s one of the reasons ORAS made my list of Pokémon games to play before Winds and Waves.

Old-school collectors might hope for a return of the Delta Species cards from 2005 and 2006, the ones with the little δ symbol. Sadly, there are no Delta Species cards in this set.

Delta Reign products and prices

These are the US retail prices. In the Netherlands, prices vary per store, so compare before you buy.

  • Elite Trainer Box ($49.99): 9 booster packs, a promo card, sleeves, dice and energy cards
  • Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box: 11 booster packs and an extra stamped promo
  • Booster Bundle ($26.94): 6 booster packs
  • 3-Pack Blister ($13.99): 3 packs and a Seel promo
  • Checklane Blister ($5.50): 1 pack, a coin and a Spritzee promo
  • Build & Battle Box ($21.99): a 40-card deck, 4 packs and a random promo. It reaches regular stores on November 20.
  • Booster Box: 36 packs

Pre-order prices online are wild right now. For example, Elite Trainer Boxes are selling for more than double their retail price on some marketplaces. My advice is to wait, because prices often drop once the first big wave of stock hits stores.

Is Delta Reign worth buying?

That depends on why you buy cards. If you love Rayquaza, an Elite Trainer Box at retail price is a fun way to open the set. On the other hand, if you only want that one gold Mega Rayquaza, buy the single. Chasing one card through packs almost always costs more than buying it outright.

For players, the Legendary Stadiums are the real story. I’m curious if they’ll see play or end up as binder cards. Either way, they’re a nice nod to the HeartGold and SoulSilver days.

And whatever you do, watch out for fakes when you buy online. Hot sets attract scammers, so run through my checklist on how to spot fake Pokémon cards first.

FAQ: Delta Reign

When does Delta Reign come out?

Delta Reign releases on November 6, 2026. Prerelease events at local game stores start on October 24.

How many cards are in Delta Reign?

Over 135, according to The Pokémon Company. The main set has 103 numbered cards, and the secret rares come on top of that.

What is the best card in Delta Reign?

Mega Rayquaza ex is the big one. Especially the gold and Special Illustration Rare versions will most likely be the most valuable cards in Delta Reign.

Are there Delta Species cards?

No. The name comes from the Delta Episode in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, not from the old δ cards.

Final thoughts

Delta Reign looks like a strong set for anyone who grew up with Hoenn. Mega Rayquaza is a great headliner, and the split Legendary Stadiums bring back a fun idea from 2010. Just don’t overpay in the first week, when prices are at their highest.
